I'm still fighting a few issues w/ my knoppmyth setup.
1. I have to do "nvidia-settings --load-config-only"
Is there a way to have this run automaticly?
2. Sometimes i have to also run "mythbackend" for soem reason it didn't start.

3. I can't get anything to play in media library. It just locks up myth.

4. When i try to play a DVD I get a black window in upper left corner, it says XINE. it also locks up.

5. On my hd tuner hd-5500 the sound video is great, when i swich to analog, the sound is very "tinny".

Live tv works fine.

I'm running KM ver.R5E50
Nvidia 7300le, running at 1080i via tvout.
p4 3.2 ghz
1gb ram

Thanks
Geoff

1) See http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12824&highlight=nvidiasettings
Or just run restore_fixups.sh which does it magically.
2) Know issue. Being investigated. May (or may not) have to do with the udev change.

Ok I tried R5D1 just for grins. I updated to the latest nvidia (9746) drivers. And everything seems to be working much better.

So Issues 1,2,3,4 are fixed. I still have an issue w/ the analog on the hd5500 card. ATM I dont have anysound when i change to analog.

Also, there where a few scripts that ran during setup. Lirc and games database. I said no to the questions. It said i could do it later by running the script, but i cant seem to remember what the scripts where called. Can some one give me the names or locations of these scripts?

Thanks!

Look in the /usr/local/bin/ directory.

I have the same DVD lockup issue, using R5E50. The same machine worked just fine under R5B7, and I'm fielding questions from my family as to why I can't undo the upgrade so they can watch DVDs again. Any insight?

Did you upgrade or reinstall from scratch? I seem to remember human talking about an issue with first time xine setup on new installs. You should be able to get past this if you've got (or can get) a mouse and keyboard attached to the system.
    - Exit the GUI to the desktop.
    - Use Alt-X to get an xterm up.
    - As the mythtv user run xine in that window with no arguments
    - Go through the first time setup then exit xine.
    - Close/exit the xterm
    - Use Alt-M to get the GUI back up.

You can also do this remotely if you have a box which will let you ssh into the KM box and shoot an X display back.

I upgraded following the directions posted around Christmas.

If I'm SSHed into the box, the SSH connection drops when I put a DVD in most of the time.

I've tried using xine or the internal player, with the same results.

Did you take care of any library issues?

This occurs with home-brewed DVDs as well, and yes - the library which shall not be named has been installed.

My kernel error log includes the following lines:

mythtv kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown
mythtv kernel: hdc: drive not ready for command
mythtv kernel: hdc: status error: status=0x58 ( DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest )

Again, this is with disks that WORKED prior to the update. DMA is enabled on the drive.

Well, this is odd.

I apparently had two issues. The library which shall not be named was 1.2.9 and that didn't work. Using 1.2.8 solved the issue with commercial disks.

The homebrew disk that failed must just be a crappy disk. Teach me to use anything other than Verbatim. :-)

I find that highly unlikely, as 1.2.9 was released over 1.5 years ago and has worked with each version of KM I have tested it on, including the little testing I did with R5E50. Perhaps your ./configure parameters were off?

I wholeheartedly agree here, as not all DVD+-R are created equal. I'm fond of Memorex myself.
