Post subject: | Problems with channelchange and irblaster -SOLVED |
I tried to install an irblaster. The irblaster.sh script worked well. I have search the forum, but couldn't find the answer. My problem is I have a changechannel script that work from the shell. I have modified it so that it put the $i into a logfile. When I run it from the shell I can see that the script change the channel, but when it runs in the myth I can see it runs but it runs without a channelnumber ($1 is blank). I have tried to restart myth-backend. Ran mythfilldatabse, but it didn't help. Could it be something I have done wrong with the channel-setup? The channels work well in myth except I got to change the dish-box manually. |

In the Channel Editor in mythtv-setup, have you put the channel number you wish to send in the "Frequency or Channel" text box, on the second screen of the settings for that channel (The same one that has the sliders for Brightness etc.)? Bruce S. |

Thanks that solved my problem. My freq-table was empty since I used composite in. I thought it used the channelnumbers. |

I have the same problem as hste, but I have already entered the channel numbers in the frequency table while still using R5C7. It's been working up until I upgraded to R5E50. I use a homebrew irblaster with transmitter, both on the first com port. The receiver works fine after some tweaking, see http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11616, but the transmitter only works when running channel_change.sh from the shell. What I need to know is how one can follow when mythtv runs channel_change.sh and what it does. Thanks, Douw. |

If it is a serial device, have you added mythtv to the dialout group in /etc/groups ? Bruce S. |

No Bruce, I haven't. I will try that tonight and see how it goes. Thanks, Douw. |

I tried Bruce's advice, to no avail. Before adding mythtv to dailout group, I ran the channel_change.sh script as user mythtv. It changed th channels with no problem. |

You should see the the results of the script in /var/log/messages/myth/mythbackend.log. Have you put in the full path to the script in the setup for the Input Connections? Bruce S. |

I never put the full path to the script in, it now works fine. Thanks, Douw. |
