Being still quite new to Mythtv, I have done a fresh install of 5E50 and I am having problems getting my Hauppauge A415 remote to work properly. I have 2 x Hauppauge Nova T PCI cards and the standard IR thingy.
From install the remote will work in a basic way, arrow keys and number keys mainly through the mythtv menus and viewing tv/videos. However I want to map the other (currently non working) keys to certain functions. I have tried replacing the hardware.conf, lircd.conf and lircrc files but nothing seems to change.
I do not seem to have a /dev/lirc or /dev/lirc0, I just have /dev/lircd. Whatever I do to try to get a /dev/lirc0 does not seem to make any difference.
When I use irw to get key presses, it confirms that the arrow keys and numbers work (but does not display the actual key codes just single numbers, etc.) but I get no response from the other keys. I tried mode2 but that errors unable to find /dev/lirc.
It seems that something is mapping some of the remote keys but not all.
Any help would be most appreciated to diagnose and resolve this configuration issue. I can provide further info if required.

lircrc is the file you need to modify. After do so, restart lirc and the frontend.

I have modified lircrc until it only has a single mapping of the TV button to the t key. When I run irw I still do not get the t key, but I still get the number and arrow keys working.
I even tried deleting lircrc, restarting lircd and the number and arrow keys still work but no other keys.
What is hapening here? Where are the setting being held?

Did you stop and restart the lirc daemon and all it's clients?

It's possible I missed something here, I used the lircd restart command. I also did numerous hard reboots.
I would like to get back to the point where irw displays remote codes rather than the mapped key presses if possible.
Should I be concerned that I only have a /dev/lircd and no /dev/lirc or lirc0?
Thanks for the help.

As I understand it, the Nova-T does not use the same driver as the PVRx50s, so you need to something slightly different. Perhaps these posts here and here may help.

Thanks Bruce_s01 that has helped somewhat, but it is still not there.
I have two Nova-T cards, one is a 90002 the other a 90003. I have the remote sensor in the 90003. I have determined that if I cat event1 I get a repeat of the number keys (i.e. if I press 1 I see 1) and a code for the arrow keys and OK button - the other buttons do not respond. If I cat event2 I get gibberish but every key on the remote responds.
I have therefore set hardware.conf to /dev/input/event2. When I go into MythTV the remote is not working, if I plug the remote sensor into the other Nova-T the remote works again but only the number, arrow and OK keys.
If I try everything in reverse the same happens.
Any help would be most appreciated, this must be soooo close to working properly.

You will probably have to stop lircd and run irrecord to create a new lircd.conf, I've noticed that for some reason the values returned for the number pad seem to change after system upgrades/changes.
Restart lircd and check using irw, this should return the values in lircd.conf. The frontend should be shutdown of course when carrying out the above.
