HI,

I went through the pamphlet yesterday, and it looks like the only thing that can work from the LiveCD is a frontend. There seems to be no way to create a live backend. I wish it was possible to do so, in order to try the whole software before install.

I currently have MythTV installed through Ubuntu, but I have too many problems with NFS, and before I replace that "working" system with another, I would love to be able to test KnoppMyth, even if it means redoing the setup when ready to install.

Given the R5E50 has UnionFS, you should be able to use it as a live backend. I've been meaning to test this, but I've more important fish to fry... So, the quickest way to test this would be to:

Start the live frontend and exit when it starts.
Open and xterm and su to root.
Code:
mkmythdir
exit
mythtv-setup
mythfilldatabase

Once complete, <alt><m> to start the frontend. Note: You probably run out of space as UnionFS by default will use your RAM as storage. I believe you can bind hard drive storage, but I've not play with it... As the is off the top of my head... YMMV.

Thanks for the information.

I'll try that and keep you posted about the process.
