Post subject:  System tweaks

I am getting very close to having a mythtv box that I am quite happy with, but I still have a few nagging issues that I could use help with:

1: I am using a imon VFD display and have to enter the following from a shell to get it to work

# killall mythlcdserver
# /usr/local/sbin/LCDd -c /home/mythtv/lcd/LCDd.conf
# mythlcdserver

It looks to me like mythlcdserver is trying to run and the LCDd driver never gets loaded, so I have to kill the lcd server, load the driver, and reload the mythlcdserver. I really want this to all load at start up and have tried adding those lines to the very end of /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh but it doesn't work and I have to type them by hand in the shell. Is there a better way to do this?

2: I am not happy with the scaling when playing back a dvd in xine (to a 1080p display). I have loaded the suggested xine settings, and the deinterlace works well, but the scaling looks aliased, especially on text. Is there a scaling control or any other suggestions?

3: The menu text is slightly aliased too (in all menus). I have the dpi set to 100x100 and the latest nvidia drivers. The overly text that you see when wathcing a HD program looks fantastic and very smooth (anti aliased) it would be great if the menu text looked so good too.

4: When moving about in the program guide the gui is very slow to catch up. I have to be careful to not issue too many commands or it will try to catch up with me for some time (this is on a very fast pc). Any thoughts why the program guide is so slow?

5: It would be great if there was a single keyboard command to jump to the program schedule from anywhere. Also a single command to watch TV or recordings from anywhere. Is there a way to do this?

6: When I make a DVD of HD shows, there are big interlacing artifacts. Is there any way to change how the interlacing is handled when creating DVD's?

7: When using mythweb, there seem to be several web page broken links, especially when trying to load secondary pages. For example these all have HTTP 400 errors:

TV>searches>All HD>search
TV>recording schedules>(click on show title)
StreamTV>(check box recording)>select recording and continue

Also, when I try to stream a video over the web I get a broken quicktime icon.

I know it is a long list, but they are minor items right now. At this point I'm thrilled with how the system is working!
