Ok, here's the deal.. I got motion working, however, I want to save the JPG and AVI file in the same directory, but no matter what I put in the motion.conf file the video is put in the target directory....
This is the relevant portions of the conf file:

jpeg_filename %Y/%m/%d/%H%M%S

movie_filename %Y/%m/%d/%H%M%S

Again, the Jpeg goes to the right place.. The movies come out like:
%v-%Y%m%d%H%M%S
Which is the default, not what I have put in... I am using motion 3.2.4.

Anyone have any ideas that might help me fis this??

Figured it out... R5D1 comes with motion version 3.2.4 The correct entry in the motion.conf file for the movie filename is
ffmpeg_filename

Somehow my motion.conf had the item as
movie_filename

the latter is correct from version 3.5.1 and on...

Hope this helps someone else.
