Hi there,

This is totally my fault for being an inquisitive fool and not simply leaving the system alone when it works. Basically i was wondering what KDE was (im new to linux) and wondered what it looked like, so of course i installed it without thinking about the consequences first. Thankfully MythTV still works quite happily but it doesnt boot into the MythTV frontend when i start my machine, it starts in the KDE (which is very nice by the way).

So my question is how do i ensure that my system boots into the MythTV frontend when i start up my machine - im guessing that ill have to change something in the startup script but i dont really know where i can find this or what i should change.

Hopefully someone can help me out here.

Many thanks

Rob

No easy answer I'm afraid. It's highly likley that you've roached the desktop setup.

The default X setup uses fluxbox as a window manager and a number of important things either get launched by it's start up rules or are are accessed via key shortcuts configured into it. You've most likely replaced that with some KDE window manager, and done who knows what other damage.

t may be time to make a backup and "auto upgrade" to the same version. Even that may require some special surgery so that the problem configuration files don't get restored for the mythtv user. I'd try it without the surgery first, and if that doesn't work we can walk you through some cleanup...

BTW - If you were clever and made a backup (using the mythbackup script) before experimenting it may be even easier.
