Post subject:  Why does my XF86Config reset after rebooting?

I recently upgraded from a Ti4600 to an FX5200 card. After upgrading, recordings were out of sync, the video was slightly choppy, etc. I did some research and used this wiki article to cut and paste into both /etc/X11/XF86Config and /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. After doing restartx, everything looks and works smooth.

I had to reboot the computer for something else, and after it came back up everything was choppy and sound and video were out of sync again. I looked at the XF86Config files and they were set to use "fbdev"as the driver. What might be causing this? Thanks for all the help!
