I've got two problems right now. First, I pick up a very distinctive interferances (it sounds like a low frequency square wave from a tone generator) from certain channels in MythTV. Given that one of these channels runs my girlfriend's favorite show this is a relatively major issue. Other channels work perfectly fine. I'm frankly at a complete loss to figure out what's causing it. The second problem I'm having is that my audio is about 5 seconds out of sync whenever I convert my recorded shows to DVD. I found one post dealing with a similar issue, but that one went slowly out of sync where as mine is out of sync right from the beginning. Can anyone help with these problems? |

Yeah, sorry. Dunno why I didn't think of that. 3.4ghx P4 768MB DDR400 RAM Hauppage WinTV (bt878 chipset) Radeon 9200 Onboard VIA sound DVD ROM drive (I copy DVD ISOs across the network to my main computer, which has a DVD burner). |

This may (or may not) have been obvious to you, but have you checked the cables? Make sure the audio cables is aren't getting cross talk from the video cables and the like... Mine tend to pick up a buzz, humm, crackle, ... from the back of the TV if I get careless while fiddling with the hardware. |

OK - on the hum... that kind of problem can be real trouble to solve. Are you sure the hum is specific to certain channels or is the hum on all but not as noticeable. I had the same kind of problem with an onboard audio card (has a ground loop problem) and ended up adding a SB Live to get rid of the hum. As TJC suggests, check your cables carefully (make sure they are shielded properly - no cheap cables) and the system is grounded. With respect to the audio sync I see you are having sync problems on DVD playback but not on the original recording. Are you using xine for DVD playback? There is a known audio sync issue with the Xine build in R5E50. |
