Im slowly migrating from r5a16 to r5e50.
Ive got r5e50 up and running today with a nova-t DVB tuner in it.
Apart from the lirtc it seems to work ok but picture quality seems not as good as r5a16. Any idea why the picture would seem softer, could this be an X config ?

What are you outputting to and what type of output are you using? It might be worth while having a look at your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log to check which resolution you are using.

Are you using the same deinterlace algorithm? Check that you haven't got any filters activated.

I asked that just make sure everything is what you think it is, I was running for a while using a setting thinking it was one thing but it was another. Also to check that you are using the correct output such as S-Video vs Composite.
