Post subject:  Digital audio problem - mythvideo

Edit: Nevermind for now, I think it might be the source.

Ok so I am using the onboard sound on my MSI K8NGM2-FID motherboard to pass AC3 audio to my Denon AVR-3801 receiver via coaxial digital audio cable. My problem is that while AC3 Dolby Digital and stereo sources work great, for some reason I get dropouts with DTS. This is when playing back videos using mplayer and -ao alsa -afm hwac3 as my audio flags.
The dropouts are quick little jitter type dropouts, almost like the audio is stuttering with a little bit of crackle. Any ideas for me to try? Maybe some different audio flags with mplayer? I am pretty sure it is not a sample rate conversion problem as many of the AC3 DD tracks work fine with the same 48khz sample rate as the DTS. The audio device is ALC880 Digital. Thanks, let me know if any other info would help...
