Post subject: | Question about DVD and iso playback |
I am running R5E50 and love it. Now that hd are cheaper I am starting to rip my DVDs to ISO so I don’t have to mess with transcoding, it being an art form. When I rip a DVD to iso it works perfect. Menus navigations all exactly the same as live TV. Works 100% Now every now and then I just want to watch a DVD. But when I put the DVD in all the controls are wrong. Now this isn’t that strange as with older versions mplayer was for recordings and zine was for DVD and you had to configure the buttons separately. What I don’t quite get is why .iso seems to be played by mplayer but a DVD is handled by zine? Am I correct in this? |

I think you mean xine not zine. Which player is used for various things is a configuration setting from the "settings" table in the database. The KM default setting for "videos" is mplayer because it handles more formats. The KM default for "optical disks" is xine because it offers better menu navigation support. I'm not sure if there is an option under the video library settings to select different players for different formats (like mime.types in a browser) but it's what I'd go look for. |

I found the solution. Go to dvd play options and change from xine to internal %d. All buttons work for me maped the same as mplayer. Menu navigation works as well. Their is a mime.types like option for video under video playback section. |

Beware of navigation during DVD playback with the builtin player. Using fast forward or skipping forward/backward still sent it off to the land of lost bits last time I tried using it. |
