I've done a brief search without luck. Is it possible to use MythTV as a UPnP client, not just as a UPnP server ? |

You'd probably need to add the UpnP library. |

What are the advantages of this? I know that I normally disable UPnP on my router... |

The advantages? All the devices in your home magically conencting to each other, without having to edit config files, assign IP addresses, remember port numbers, et c. In terms of MythTV? Not much yet. Some uPnP clients can connect to a MythTV backend and display videos, recordings, play music, et c. The MythTV uPnP client stuff is still being worked on, though, so the plug-and-play utopia I mentioned above isn't here yet for MythTV installs.[/i] |
