Long post here. A friend and I have almost identical KnoppMyth boxes. Both of us have Motorola DCT-6200 boxes recording over Firewire. The motherboards we use are the same model, but slightly different builds (ASUS A8N-VM CSM). Both of us are running R5E50. His is a fresh install, mine is an install/import from R5D1. Both systems were installed right after R5E50 came out. Until about a month ago his system was running great. His uptime was something like 90 days or more. About a month ago he had a frontend lockup that required a system restart. Since then his firewire connection has been very unstable. Almost everyday he has to rerun firewire_tester (to stabilize the firewire) or reboot the system. During this time my myth box has been running fine. (Charter has now blocked me from recording anything from HBO. damn Sopranos) I have had a few backend hiccups, but a restart has fixed them. Are other people experiencing firewire troubles? Also does anyone know if the recent Debian stable has an updated firewire lib stack? I will check when I get a minute, but I thought someone might have already checked. Thanks, the_crowbar |
