Post subject:  Poor quality TV

Right so thanks to the lovely people on this forums (and a few other places) i have finally gotten my TV to play through my composite input on my capture card. Hurrah - well not quite. Unfortunately the quality is water poor.

The picture is very jerky and really unwatchable. So i was thinking this could be one (or a combination) of 3 things.

1) Hardware just aint up to the task
2) My mythtv settings are wrong
3) My drivers aint set up right

Personally i think it is probably 1, but im hoping someone might be able to give me tips on how to be sure. My hardware BTW is

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Maxtor STM3320820A 320GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Leadtek Winfast DTV1000T Capture Card
512Mb RAM
Onboard VIA Graphics
Onboard Sound

The reason i think it could be my hardware is that as you can see my graphics controller is an onboard one which im guessing means it aint overly powerful.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions/help offered.

What's the onboard graphics? If it's the Via Unichrome you may just need to set things up to use the right driver, which even has XvMC support. On the downside there are known DMA issues with certain Via chipsets, although my recollection is that's more an Athlon/AthlonXP era problem.

Athlon XP and Via KT880 had issues for me so much I changed over to an Nvidia based board (motherboard and video).
