Although I have accurate program guide data for all my available channels and I am actually receiving those channels on my digital STB, MythTV won't let me select channels above 124. I've checked the mythbackend.log file and it's listing the channels I can access as four digits, i.e. channel 14 is 1014 and channel 120 is 1120, but the channels I can't access are coming out as only three digits, i.e. channel 129 is 129. I'm at a loss as to what to do now.
Background: After happily using MythTV (R5C7) mostly trouble-free for about a year now, I just "upgraded" my cable from analog Comcast to digital Verizon FiOS. I've switched from a coax connection to S-video (which was a headache) and downloaded the new channel line up, etc. I can get good image and sound (after upgrading to ivtv-0.4.8 from 0.4.6) Although I can't actually change channels using MythTV until I get an IR Blaster, I'm wondering whether I'll be able to since I can't select anything above 124.
Any ideas? Thanks.

So what you are doing is manually setting the box to change channel?
Have you checked in the 2nd channel setup screen (in mythtv-setup), the one with all the sliders for contrast etc, the channel or frequency number. This should be the number you would be sending to the box to change channel, so if it's channel 129, it should be 1129.
As you have changed over to FIOS, does your STB have a Firewire port? As I understand it, your cable suppliers should have this so you change channel and receive programme content over this.

I actually haven't gotten as far as having MythTV change channels on my STB yet, although I've already tried the serial port connection and the dct-channel program script which didn't work. I'll look into the firewire connection though.
The problem now is, MythTV seems to treat channels above 124 differently. When I'm watching live tv and select channel 24 or 107 or anything below 125 in the program guide, Myth merrily "changes" the channel and displays the correct on-screen info for that newly tuned channel (although the STB is still on whatever channel I've tuned it to). When I select any channel in the program guide above 124, nothing happens. If while watching live tv, I punch "24" into the remote, the channel "changes" to channel 24. If I punch "168" into the remote, nothing happens.
I've confirmed in the MySQL channel table in webmin that all channels, including the ones above 124, are four digits. So it's puzzling why channels above 124 are being listed as only three digits when I change channels (see first post above). I also tried scheduling a recording on channel 224 and, as expected, the recording failed because it couldn't find channel 224.

Since that's as high as conventional channels go I suspect that you're running up against some limitation in the frequency set or software. Are you using a dummy external tuner script that returns success?

No, I don't have any channel changing script, dummy or otherwise, programmed in yet, since I don't have any way yet of using MythTV to change channels.
EDIT: I took your hint, tjc, and found a posting about using /bin/true to return a successful channel change (regardless of reality). That solved the problem. Thanks.
Now all I have to do is figure out whether the firewire port on my QIP2500 STB is active or not.

Cmaines, would you mind posting the forum where you found the solution? I have the same problem.
Thanks in advance,
