Randomly I like to go and run a backup. When I did it today it said it was backing up and then testing, but the test failed and it told me so. I rebooted my system and then immediately did another backup, it also failed. I am no expert on Knoppmyth, so I am not sure where to go from here to find out why it did not work, and I know I need a good backup before I go to the new version that just came out.

Archer, it would help quite a bit if you provided a bit more information. Exactly what error msg did the backup scripts produce?

- Run the checkbackup script.

- Report the errors produced.

This is documented in the R5F1 hints and hazards posting. If you haven't read it yet, you should do so before upgrading.

I will have to run the scripts from the command line to do that, and i am not exactly sure how to do it. I started the backup from the on screen menu system. It does not tell me what the error is just that the back up failed.

When I ran checkbackup it gave me an error saying that things could be out of date. So I ran mythbackup again, and then checkbackup. When I did this everything was just fine. I am not sure why when I ran it from the on screen display it told me it failed.

Thanks for your help though. You would not have any idea why it failed the way I did it the first time would you?
