I know, I know... telnet is not secure: I promise not to use it over the internet. That being said, what would be involved in setting up telnet so that I logon through the LAN?

This would allow me to do several useful things. I am interested in screen captures and allowing my linux guru friends to view what I am viewing in real time through Windows Remote Assistant.

I have not used VNC or SSH, so I can not comment. It would be nice to avoid installing another piece of software on my PC.

What you need on Windows is Putty. It is pretty lightweight, you don't even need to install it fully it as it can be run from a single executable file.
