Post subject:  Mythtv crashes at 1920x1080?

I'm having a problem with my myth. I just upgraded to the newest version and upgraded to the newest nvidia drivers 9755 and included the option Option "UseEvents" "True" and added a mod line for my westinghouse TV to enable to to run at 1920x1080, mythtfrontend starts up fine at 1920x1080, but when I try and play a video the frontend crashes and kicks me back out to the desktop.

Any idea why this could be happening?

Its running on an older System Athlon XP 1800+ with 512 megs of RAM that runs perfect at lower resolutions. Is the high res just too much for the system or is it a myth bug of some kind?

The modline I am using is:
Modeline "1920x1080_59.94p"
148.352
1920 1960 2016 2200
1080 1082 1088 1125
+hsync -vsync

I was not using the HD tv with the older version of myth

Thanks

I think you're way underpowered to decode HDTV shows with that CPU. I'm running a 3.0 GHz P4 with hyperthreading and it does well, but I usually use 30-50% of my CPU to decode the program (also 1080i).

You are probably under the threshold even if you use hardware-assist such as XvMC to help with decoding. Just my guess, since I've never tried it on an XP 1800 myself.

I tried hdtv on a 1700+ and it would squeak by with 720p, but a complete no go for 1080i streams, and it's been quite a while, but I'm pretty sure that was with xvmc turned on.

Thanks,
I know that they say you need 3ghz for HD, but I wasn't trying to watch HD programming, just play divx/mpeg videos. I am able to watch them with vlc on the desktop but it not as smooth as it should be and the cpu is pegged at 100%

sigh, looks like its time to upgrade the myth
