A new ivtv-0.10.3 driver has been released. Don't know if the wiki directions for compiling 0.10.1 still apply, (Edit: They still seem to apply. I followed them and they worked.) but here's the change log:

Quote:
0.10.3 release
- Models 30012 to 30039 are for a low profile PVR250, not a PVR150.
- Move PIO memory copies from the interrupt handler to the work handler.
This fixes problems with the timer ticks and IR remotes.

0.10.2 release
- Replace SA_* with IRQF_*.
- Add support for 2.6.21 kernels.
- Fix radio audio stuttering.
- Add autodetect for new PVR150 low-profile models.
- Fix audio volume problem on CX23416GYC-STVLP.
- First unregister driver, then free memory. Not the other way around.
- Modifies automatic mode selection for yuv playback. Behaviour is now that
source video with a vertical resolution below that of the currently set
broadcast mode will be treated as progressive. Video with a vertical
resolution greater or equal to the current broadcast mode (up to 576 lines)
will be treated as interlaced.
- Update the VIDIOC_INT_RESET define.
- VIDIOC_INT_RESET changed starting 2.6.19, so check kernel version
for correct VIDIOC_INT_RESET define.

The instructions on the wiki have been updated for 0.10.3 with clarifications for R5F1.

Anybody know yet if this will let you run saa7134-dvb without putting the ir remote setup into molasses ?

Worth a try anyway. I'm testing it right now and the remote seems pretty solid...

I re-compiled lirc last night, and my remote is still only processing 1 out of 10 or so key presses. Interesting is that no keypresses seem to be lost in an xterm (pressing a number enters a number in an xterm). Only myth seems to be losing them.

I'm going to try and rename saa7134-dvb tonight. I hope it isn't needed for my saa7416...

This made a huge improvement. Yeah! Might want to add it to the hints and tricks (note, I just removed it from /etc/init.d/Knoppmyth-tv as suggested earlier).

Well,
In a "YMMV thing" I have different results from different machines.

A 1.8ghz IBM running a PVR 350 & 250 (& Hauppauge 415 remote) in standard def. TV on R5F1 had the ir problem... was banished by commenting out the SAA7134 load.

A 3.2ghz IBM 'thinkcentre' running HD on two Air-2-PC 0.2 cards (with a StreamZap remote) and R5F1 had the problem (usually developed after disuse overnight) and was also banished just by commenting out the SAA7134 entry.

A 3.2 ghz IBM 'desktop' (the one I asked you guys about the low profile PCI slots, and ended up with a Dvico fusion 5 lite card in...) running R5E50 (I subbed in the old drive from the other machine..) ( Also streamZap remote..)
Commenting out the SAA7134s didn't work.
Renaming the the module to -disabled didn't work.
I took a deep breath and upgraded the ivtv driver to 10.3 per the wiki. (including the 90 minute recompile [No errors cropped up]...)
Darn ! It STILL is stuck in molasses in the morning !

I'll observe it a few more days & then wipe the drive & start over with R5F1. This 'support allkindsa hardware' stuff gets tricky !

Referring to 0.10.3 in general, I am seeing intermittent problems (about 50% of the time) with it detecting my PVR-250 as a PVR-150. In this case, I have one PVR150, one PVR250, and one Kworld ATSC 115, and ivtv intermittently thinks I have TWO PVR-150's. When it works , the ivtv section in syslog looks like this:

It would appear to be an i2c problem, I'm speculating that it may be related to the ir-kbd-i2c driver that's getting pulled in by saa7134 for the Kworld tuner.

That looks like one to report to the ivtv developers list.

It could also be a problem with the card. You may want to pull it, do a physical inspection and reinsert it (after checking the slot you're using). Make sure there's not cruft in the slot, none of the components on the board look "funny", there isn't anything loose, and that the board is properly seated.

The failure to read the eeprom is why the card is being misidentified, but the question becomes why _that_ is happening...

The problem I mentioned above does seem to be a conflict between the ivtv driver and ir-kbd-i2c both accessing the Hauppauge card's registers during boot. Anyone who is using a Hauppauge tuner card should probably disable ir-kbd-i2c to avoid intermittent tuner initialization and ir remote problems. Renaming this module, i.e.in R5F1:
Code:
mv /lib/modules/2.6.18-chw-13/kernel/drivers/media/video/ir-kbd-i2c.ko /lib/modules/2.6.18-chw-13/kernel/drivers/media/video/ir-kbd-i2c.ko-DISABLED
...is the easy solution for those who don't need the saa7134 driver (as mentioned in another post). However, to disable ir-kbd-i2c but still be able to load the saa7134 driver (for a Kworld tuner card for example), please read the following post: http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15010

This eliminates any concerns I had regarding the ivtv 0.10.3 driver; it seems to work fine now that I've patched ir-kbd-i2c.
