I have been experiencing a "jittery" playback issue when using XVMC as my MPEG decoder. It is extremely noticable when watching anything with a static object on screen (stock ticker, score board, OSD, etc). It jitters only vertically as if it is jumping scan lines.

I am running R5E50 with an nvidia 6600 with the default 8776 driver. I have changed the Xvmc library (I do have B/W OSD) and have tried changing the Sync to Vblank options in nvidia-settings. I have also looked at the tips found here http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/XvMC .

I am using a Samsung DLP TV using the VGA out running at 800x600. Could this be a modeline problem? I assume it isn't as the problem only exists with XVMC. Any thoughts?

Ding, this problem has been reported by a number of people. One person, bbear stated that he was able to resolve the problem by upgrading to R5F1.

Go figure. Well I got it looking a tad better by hooking up my Windows PC to my tv and grabbing the true modelines from powerstrip. The resolution is now at 1280x720 and the jitteriness is not so apparent. Instead, all the text looks kinda crappy. This is through the OSD or just the static stuff on screen like the stock ticker.

I may upgrade to R5F1 especially since I will be getting my HD5500 in the next day or so. I just want this to look good before the NBA Finals start on thursday.

UPDATE

Well the jitteriness is still there with R5F1. I did upgrade my nvidia driver to 9975 which did improve it a tad but the probem is still there. Any other options?
