I just re-installed R5F1 and applied point 5.4 from:
R5F1 hints and hazards - Please read before installing! to get my PVR-350's TV-Out working.

Now, I can watch live tv, record 3 channels at once and am very pleased.
EXCEPT that I cannot get my remote control to work.

What I have tried so far:
1) lirc-reconfig.sh
-> tells me that it should have recognized the Snapstream Firefly and to mail the contents of the log to the knppmyth at gmail, which I have done. It also says to make sure that it is plugged in, but it appears that it is because it shows the receiver attached to the USB port.
2) it seems to detect my 3 IR receiver ports (one on each of my PVRs), but I am not using that remote right now.
From /var/log/messages:
Code:
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 10
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 10
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
Jun  7 14:56:36 mythbox kernel: lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 10

but I don't see any errors - what do I look for?
3) Commented out the saa7134-dvb, by commenting it out of /etc/init.d/KnoppMyth-tv
4) made sure I had a symlink:
ln -s /etc/lirc/lircd.conf /etc/lircd.conf
5) edited /etc/init.d/lirc:
changed /dev/lirc/0 to /dev/lirc0
and changed $LIRCD_ARGS\ to $LIRCD_ARGS \ (added the space)
6) when I run irw, it says "connect: No such file or directory"
7) there is only one remote, the Snapstream Firefly listed in my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

I don't know what else to try / look at...
Thanks for any help!

What does your hardware.conf look like?
Code:
more /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

running /etc/lirc/hardware.conf:
Code:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="default"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/lirc0"
MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_atiusb"

I haven't used a Snapstream Firefly on my RF1 boxes, but I do use one on a R5D1 box. (So don't know if F1 breaks it..)

The way I set it up on the D1 box was to run the setup for the Streamzap remote (sets up for a USB remote) [Crabs 'can't id the streamzap sensor', but does the setup anyway..] and then subbed in the lircd and lircrc conf files for the Firefly manually.

This resulted in a working remote (on D1 anyway..) The Firefly files ought to be findable on this site by searching..

Hope this helps, I'll eventually build a F1 box with a Firefly, but am still trying to assemble all the hardware...
