I have a working R5F1 load of Knoppmyth. Watching LiveTV or recorded TV works great and is outputted to a 42" LCD via DVI->HDMI cable. I ran PowerStrip in Windows to get my ModeLine. I grabbed the 720p, 1080i and 1080p ModeLines straight from EDID just for testing. Once I insert a DVD using the 1080p ModeLine the hard drive is instantly pegged with activity and after 5-10 minutes crashes the frontend. At this point, I can restart the frontend with ALT-M, but since the DVD is still in the drive, it crashes again. I then took the DVD out and tried to turn off the 'autoplay' option, but again the system crashed when I even tried to access the DVD Settings menu. I've done this over and over, reboot after reboot and it still does the same thing. I finally tried my 720p ModeLine and everything works great. DVD's play normally, I got into the DVD settings, not a single problem. Any ideas why only DVD's crap my 1080p system??? Thanks in advance! BTW, I'm using xine for playback. |

It takes a fare bit of system oomph to display 1080P. I've looked for a post that states what hardware you're using. I see a "Tier 1" posting that suggest you have a: Quote: MSI PM8M-V
Celeron D 345 3.06Ghz 512MB PVR-150 eVGA FoRce FX5500 A&P 128MB Video Card Is that still your current system? I'm no hardware or Myth expert, but from what I've seen on several tech shows/podcasts/vidcasts I keep tabs on, I'd bet your dear old Celery isn't up to the task of 1080P. |

Yeah, my specs are close to those posted. I've recently upgraded my video card to a 6200. It's bizarre though that live TV and recorded programs have no issues with the 1080p. I would have thought if anything it would have a problem displaying that. I don't have a lick of stutter watching either, but to have it crash just trying to access the DVD Settings in MythTV is just strange to me. I've wondered all along if my Celeron would cut it. (that's about the top end those things go) Or if I would need to drop in a P4 or Core2Duo instead. |

Is it possible to call up xine outside of the MythTV interface to see if any problems arise there? |

Yes. Alt-X to pop up an xterm, and use the same xine command you've got configured in the database settings. |
