I've got a clean install of r5f1 with 8776 nvidia drivers ( 7300 GS )installed. The problem I'm having is that I can't get some avi's to play properly. Within Myfrontend I just get a loading... screen. If I try to run it in X with: mplayer -fs -zoom -quite -vo xv *filename* the only thing I see it complain about are: xv: could not grab port 274 xv: could not grab port 275 xv: could not grab port 276 I see that it pics a codec and that it gets the audio figured out properly, but thats it. Just sits there. I've googled the could not grab port but haven't found anything that I could understand. Anyone got any ideas or some direction? |

Do you know what format the video is in, as AVI is simply a container and the video can be in any format. Also have your tried playing the file with xine, I find it is better at handling codecs etc. |

Sure, off the top of my head, one was a Divx and one showed using some thing that started with an FF. I can double check if it will help. |

still looking for a little help. If someone can tell me what logs or info they need to further me being able to use mplayer at all. Seems the only things I can play are through the internal player. Trying to play the same file through mplayer causes those errors. Could it be something with xv? |

What do you get if you type Code: xvinfo in a terminal window?
What driver are you using in xorg.conf? |

Well, I can only come up with a few things you could try... Try forcing mplayer to use the correct port with Code: mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv:275 *filename* I suspect it won't work, but...You could try Code: mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo x11 *filename* to see if you get some other errors that lead to something fruitful.
Maybe the nvidia drivers aren't installed correctly? From what I can find, if xvinfo shows ports available, then things should work. |
