Post subject:  Yet another Hauppauge Remote Problem

I seem a LOT of threads like this, but no one seems to have a problem like I do, and when they do, they already fixed it doing the things I've done.

My remote is very unreliable. It will randomly stop working for a minute, then be perfectly fine for another minute or so, then go back to not working. I have the Hauppauge silver dog bone remote. So far, I have done the following

1.) Commented out the saa1734-dvb file from KnoppMyth-tv
2.) Renamed the ir-kbd-i2c.ko file so the module doesn't start
3.) Did a cold reboot (half an hour, unplugged)
4.) Went through the lircd file (I believe) and change the /dev/lirc/0 to /dev/lirc0 and added the space in that other line
5.) Ran lirc-configure.sh and tried a few other remotes
6.) Installed the latest IVTV drivers and the latest firmware (cold reboot afterwards)

And absolutely nothing has changed the way it responds. Anyone have any ideas?

Brand new batteries, maybe 4 days old. And I have changed them just for shits and giggles anyways.

Do you know anyone who is using a similar card/remote? If so, try out the other IR receiver then the remote, to see if everything is OK.

I agree with Bruce. I usually go to a terminal and enter the command

# irw

and then press buttons on the remote to see if anything is actually coming through the hardware.
