Post subject: | Where to get linux headers |
Hey, I'm trying to upgrade my Nvidia drivers, and the steps suggest to download and make the linux kernel; however, when I do so, I get the following error: HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep In file included from /usr/include/sys/socket.h:35, from /usr/include/netinet/in.h:24, from /usr/include/arpa/inet.h:23, from scripts/basic/fixdep.c:115: /usr/include/bits/socket.h:304:24: error: asm/socket.h: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1 make[1]: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2 make: *** No rule to make target `include/config/auto.conf', needed by `include/config/kernel.release'. Stop. From what I've read, I'm missing the linux-headers files (I have the linux-source) directory though). Anyone know if it's because I'm missing the headers, or if it's another problem? Pleas help. Thanks, Brad |

With R5F1 there is no need to download the kernel source for this. The headers are already set up properly to compile modules. |

Interesting. I don't know if I'm ready to goto R5F1, is there a way to do this for RE50? |

They're there in R5E50 too you just need to fix some symlinks. One of the nvidia driver threads has the details. I think there is a pointer in the R5E50 hints thread. |

Hey tjc, I agree, they *were* there, but then I was in a crunch for space because my root partition was filling up. Someone mentioned I could delete them and redownload them if I need it. Unfortunatly I need it, but can't find it. I'm assuming a symlink wouldn't fix that. |
