I have knoppmyth working great when I am using a regular CRT monitor however when I try to output ot my TV Ican no longer view live TV. Everything else works perfectly fine. I am using a hauppauge pvr250 and a nVidia GeForce MX440 using the svidio out copuled with an svideo to rca converter. I'm also using a slightly edited XF86Config-4.nvidia-tvout.sample for my XF86Config-4. All I have really changed is the "Option "TVOutFormat" "S-Video"" to "Option "TVOutFormat" "Composite"". Does anyone out there have a solution to this problem? On install I did choose to use the XV(something or other) from the i686 install menu. Thanks for any info anyone can give me. |

ok, replying to my own topic. after reinstalling from scratch I decided to again use the default i686-l packages but I left the xvmc (again I cant remember exactly what it was called but it is when you choose the option to have a remote or not). Now TV-out to my TV works perfectly. |

XvMC is supposed to enable hardware acceleration for an aspect of MPEG decoding (motion compensation) however it has some fairly stringent limitations and outside of those bounds does more harm than good. I think color depth is one of those issues for example. |
