Post subject:  R5F1 Dish network - loses correct channel overnight

I am having an issue with my R5F1/DishNetwork setup. Everything works great, except that sometimes, overnight, the DISH receiver (or something) times out or hibernates or something. As a result, the next time I have something scheduled to record, I end up recording some strange channel. Any subsequent recording are fine - that is, the correct channel gets recorded. Any ideas as to what I can try?

Thanks.

Is your myth box changing the dish network channel?

Essentially what i see with my setup is everytime it is starting a capture, Live TV or recording it sends the last channel or the channel you are trying to record at the same time it is starting the recording

I have 2 dish 301 and a dish 311.

The only anamoly I had in my setups was two things, Overnight Dish pushes updates to the receiver. That may leave your system waiting for an "OK" or "Select" The other item is a setting I found and haven't been able to stop in that if the unit doesn't change channels every day it sort of goes to sleep. That is only on the 311. Takes an "OK" or "Select" to get it back to viewing.

Same with me. I changed my channel change script to just send an OK before it changes channels. Not only does it make the screensaver type thing go away, it also seems to have improved my channel change accuracy.

Thanks for those replies to all!! Helps me out. Can either of you pass along the line(s) you used in the channel_change script to send an OK first before changing the channel?

This is the line I use to send an "OK" (or enter) to my receivers:

irsend SEND_ONCE blaster ENTER

Also - you might want to make sure that the receivers are not set to allow a power down at night. Some of the newer Dish/BEV receivers have an auto power down that can be disabled in the "setup" menu.

I had some issues with one receiver until I disabled that option.

Thanks RobTheGob.

I have made the changes to my channel change script and disabled the inactivity powerdown.

Hopefully those two things should have me firing on all cylinders. Of course, now I need to chagen my setup for Schedules Direct! :D

Cheers!
