i recently installed R5F1; i had been using an archaic version of KM (circa 2005) with no problems.

a little about the HW environment:
-- video capture card is a PVR-350, handles TV in and TV out.
-- tuner is external sat box, providing S-Video to the PVR-350.
-- channel changing is done via a simple ir-blaster and a script.

the R5F1 install from scratch went well, the upgrades went well (in fact, i'm now using Schedules Direct), the ir-blaster functions, and everything works, but for one issue...

i don't often watch live TV from within Myth, for various reasons. but i do watch live TV direct from my sat box. however, if i'm watching something directly i may want to drop into MythTV so i can, for example, pause for a bathroom break etc.

in my ancient version of Myth, selecting Watch TV from the menu did not kick off a channel change. in the R5F1 version, it does -- it initiates a channel change and reverts back to what channel was last selected. this is cumbersome because instead of seeing the channel you were last watching, you are on the channel that Myth was last watching.

this "feature" defeats the ability to seamlessly drop into MythTV's live TV from watching direct.

any ideas?

I'd suggest to take this to the MythTV mailing list. Nice to know you have a 2 year old release running smoothly for that long. :D
