Post subject:  R5F27 Upgrade : Slow Response from PVR250 Remote Now

Just upgraded to R5F27. I have a Haupauge PVR250 w/ grey remote. After the system is up for more than a few minutes, the remote is very sluggish to respond. It takes multiple clicks to get anything done. It's really not usable.

I've changed batteries, double-checked cords, all seems fine. The system processor utilization is very low. Any ideas what could be going wrong or what to check? I never had a response issue with with R5E50.

Thanks for any help.
Matt

Appreciate the reply Cecil...

I just commented out the module and rebooted. So far it's perfectly responsive. I'll let it sit for awhile and try again - I'll let you know if it becomes sluggish at some point.

Again, appreciate the help.

I just wanted to say that I was experiencing the same problem, and that fixed it for me. Thanks!

cecil,

I know that problem has existed for a while and it prevents me from running my HD cards in the same box as my SD cards. From what I remember, the HD cards require that module. I know that it is not a "Knoppmyth" problem, I was wondering if you knew of a work around?

SD cards= PVR-250 x4
HD cards= HD-3000 x2

Thanks!

See my response in this thread http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16400

This effectively the answer I'll have in the R5F27 Hints when I get done editing.

Wow, ryscar, thats alot of cards, where would you even find a motherboard with that much space on it?

Anyway.. on topic.. I'm having the same issue on a fresh install with a PVR-350 card. Will try that fix tonight when I get home.

Thanks!

Let me know how it goes. I haven't quite decided if I will attempt putting everything back into one box again. It may be more trouble then it's worth at this time. Everything works now and with my luck I will do something lame like delete the database some how.

As for all the cards, I was going to get rid of a couple of the 250's in favor of the HD3000's. I also have a PVR-500 laying aroung that I was going to put in.

I have 2 PVR-250 cards, one is an OEM (no remote) and one is from Circuit City (with remote). Ever since I went to R5Fx and now F27 the gray remote has been sluggish as quaffapint reports.

I tried the fix posted by cecil but that cause my remote to not work at all.

I have not read the other thread by tjc, but will try that tonight.

Is there something else I can try?? I would not be against going to another remote setup to get more buttons. Is there an easy solution for this? USB IR receiver and RS remote?

Thank you!
Scott

Well, I removed the kernel module as posted by tjc here:

... and it worked!

Thank you cecil and tjc for the suggestions in this post.

I wonder where ryscar finds the time to watch the amount of TV that six cards would record! :D

I think 4 cards is ideal: 2 SD and 2 HD. I rarely run into 3 shows at the same time I want to record...
