| Post subject: | Will R5E50 Frontends play nice with R5F27 Master Backend? |
I'm wondering if I will have to upgrade my two frontend only machines, currently running R5E50 when I upgrade my master backend (also running R5E50) to R5F27 to enable the Schedules Direct listing capability? Both frontend machines have a few individual custom tweaks for video, remotes, and playing those 'other' DVDs that can't be viewed in the standard install. If there is no real need to upgrade the frontends right away, I could always update them later, as I would prefer not to change too many things at once, just to avoid having to unscramble all of them at once, should something not go just quite right. Any ideas, comments or observations? DaveJ45 |

They will not work because they use different version of MythTV. |

FWIW, at least one of my R5E50 FE machines seems to work just fine with the new R5F27 MBE. Haven't tried the other one yet. DaveJ |

I was just reading through the release notes of MythTV and found that in release 0.20.1 the protocol was changed to version 31. You need to have the same protocol version on both FE & BE. |
