Post subject:	Recording playback freezes after 5 seconds
Every time I play back a video recording that Myth recorded, the video freezes after 5 seconds and locks up the whole machine. Looking at top shows the frontend hogging up 97% of my CPU. Does anyone know what could be happening? Mythfrontend output is: Code: XVMC: picture structure FRAME Video sync method can't support double framerate (refresh rate to low for bob deint) Video timing: RTC Guessing at new AV sync values

No, F@H is definitely not running. If I change back to the standard MPEG decoder, not XVMC, the video doesn't lock up, but video is too slow without XVMC. I had similar issues with R5F1. What has changed that I would suddenly have issues running XVMC? It ran perfectly for me on all of the previous Knoppmyth versions.

Hi Ed, Having the same problem with an Athlon64 and an Nvida 5200. Will post here if I find a solution. Rich Which Nvida driver are you using? I have 1.0.9755...maybe thats the problem.

Ed, Try adding these 2 lines to your xorg.conf : Code: Section "Monitor" Option "NvAGP" "1" Option "RenderAccel" "False" I've been at this for the last few hours(a lil sick today and home alone) and finally got it working on my system. I updated to the latest and greatest Nvidia drivers and that did NOT make any difference. I also tried Option "NvAGP" "2" but that didn't help. Hope this gets you going. Rich

I remember having a lot of trouble getting smooth HD playback over a year ago when started going from SD only to HD. I think this thread helped me a lot to set which channels where deinterlaced and which were not.... http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... erneldeint I think sometime around the R5F1 release we had to drop our tv cards in mythtv-setup and redefine. Somewhere around then was when I started having the HD issues again. I was waiting it out, to see if the next release (R5F27) would fix the issue, but it is still occurring. Now, so much has changed in Myth, the nVidia drivers, XF86Config-4 to xorg.conf, etc. that I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot. Enabling XVMC (which always worked great for me) causes most recordings to lock up after 5 seconds. Disabling it leaves the playback so painfully slow that it is unwatchable. It's really rendered my MythTV useless at this point with the exception of MythVideo playback.

Ed, I was experiencing the same exact symptons as you until I added those lines. Let me know how it works out and post your xorg.conf if it doesn't. Rich

It still stutters with XVMC disabled. It works a little with XVMC enabled, but if I try to fast forward it eventually freezes again. Are you using XVMC or not? After a little more research... With XVMC off, I can play back a recording, but it is really slow with garbled audio. My CPU usage isn't even high during playback, but the recording is played back in slow motion. Sometimes the show will play OK, but the commercials will play back garbled. What would make the commercials garbled when the show plays back normally? Weird. XVMC runs decently, but I think I've narrowed it down to the OSD locking it up. The lockups seem to occur when bringing up the OSD or using the transport functions. My OSD seems to be black and white now when I have XVMC enabled....I know that was an issue back in the day, but I thought they had the XVMC / color OSD issue fixed.
