That's what I concluded after doing some testing this evening.

FWIW, there doesn't seem to be any way to get ATI 9100 IGP tv-out
to work with either the R5F27 xorg driver (no tv-out at all), or with
the fglrx driver (no video overlay). There's the above patch
for the xorg driver, and there was supposedly a work-around for
the fglrx driver, but it doesn't seem to work with fglrx 8.28.X.

I'm done messing with the ATI stuff. There's an FX5200 board on
order, and by the end of the week I plan on having an HDTV
picked out to go with it.
