I'm having a lot of trouble with HD video playback in R5F27. I'd like to try going back to an Nvidia driver that I remember working successfully in previous KM versions. I'd like to try 8174 and 8178. What is the exact syntax to force the install of these drivers at this point in time? The commands in the R5F27 hints aren't working for me. Code: install-nvidia-debian.sh -force 8174 /usr/local/bin/install-nvidia-debian.sh: BEGIN grep: orce: No such file or directory Error: Version 1.0-9755 is currently installed. Invoke with the -force parameter if you want to install -force. /usr/local/bin/install-nvidia-debian.sh: END I did use -force...why is it responding like I didnt? The 8174 and 8178 packages are now missing (I guess because they are older). Is there a way for me to obtain them now? Here's where to find the driver archive: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html What kind of problems are you experiencing? I've got pretty good HDTV playback on a similar setup (except I'm only running an Athlon 2200+). It took me a lot of tweaking to get the HD live and playback working properly. Specifically XvMC, "NvAGP" "2" "UseEvents" "TRUE" in xorg.conf, extra audio buffering and single frame deinterlacing. Make sure none of the other TV options are checked in the front end (like openGL sync, warp the sound to match the video, etc). |

I'm using the same database that was working perfectly in previous KM versions, so I assume my settings should be correct. I wish there was a place that explained all of the various nvidia options that you can add to xorg. BTW - Am I supposed to download the file to a certain directory and then execute the following command?: install-nvidia-debian.sh -force 8174 |

Dunno about your specific problem, but reverting via these instructions on the wiki fixed my 440MX problem (unrelated to your problem). |

Thanks, I'll try this tonight. Should I reboot between update-rc commands and the i2c fix? I assume I can just change all occurrences of "100.14.11" to "1.0-8174" in that above script to install the 8174 drivers. |

Don't think a reboot is needed at all. you have to do this from a CTRL-ALT-F1 session because it will shutdown X. Good luck! |

Ed, What if you run the built-in install-nvidia script as i think it has the drivers you want in it already? Blame Nvidia. They keep changing the way the drivers are packaged. Keeping the script working across these changes is an ongoing battle. :-/ There's also a writeup on the wiki about about how to get the driver debs from a CD or ISO image of an older KM version. From the troubleshooting page linked in my signature go to the NVidiaDriversR5F27 page. |
