Post subject:  High mythfrontend CPU time R5F27

I recently upgraded a system from R5B7 to R5F1. It is a Pentium 3 at 800 MHz, which is a little underpowered, but worked fine under R5B7. I just noticed that when the frontend is displaying just about anything other than the top level menu (the one with "Watch TV" etc.), the mythfrontend CPU time jumps up to around 45%. When at the top menu the system is about 98% idle. Is there anything I can look into to see why this is happening? The video is stuttering when it records when it is commercial flagging at the same time. I don't know if that is causing the stuttering.

It has an nVidia FX-5200 card with TV out, and a PVR-150 tuner, 512 MB memory.

Thanks as usual for any help.

I recall some performance related library issues with R5F1. You're probably better off with R5F27. Or is the R5F1 just a typo?

Oops! Yes, it was an upgrade to R5F27. My other system is an R5F1, and it works fine, as far as CPU usage is concerned.

msfox- while my system isn't similar, mythcommflag was causing stuttering. Here's a link that may help:

Note that as root, you just have to crontab -e and add this:

*/3 * * * * root renice 19 $(pidof mythcommflag)

this renices mythcommflag back to 19 once every 3 minutes, sort of a watchdog. It was running at 17, and it was interfering with the mythfrontend.
