Post subject: | SOLVED: R5F27 and PVR-150 |
Hi, I have a problem for which I see a number of posts but none of them have resolved my issue. My experience level is that I've got one mythtv working, PVR-350 for TV in and out. The configuration of the problem system: Intel Core2Duo Asus P5VL2, Intel 945P Chipset 1G Memory Chaintech GeForce 8500 nVidia Video Card Hauppauge PVR-150 Fresh installation of KnoppMyth R5F27 (not an upgrade) Using Tuner 1 with direct coax input, no set-top-box Once I figured out how to get the nVidia video card () working everything seems to work except for Live TV. This system is currently set up as a frontend to another system I have. I can view previously recorded programs from that backend. Both systems are running R5F27. I select Watch TV and immediately return to the menu. Searched for this symptom and found this page: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... WatchingTV. Went through all of the instructions, step-by-step: - Confirmed cable and signal via direct TV connection - Confirmed mythtv setup - Confirmed that the PVR-150 is of tuner type 50. - Toggled us-cable/us-cable-hrc/us-cable-irc, no effect - Change capture resolution to 720x480 - Disabled VBI - Powered off overnight to make sure it came up clean this morning. Logs all look fine, no error messages that I can see. Here's the output suggested by http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... ngLogFiles root@mythtv-lrfe:~# dmesg | grep "tuner model is TCL M2523_.*_E" tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is TCL M2523_5N_E (idx 112, type 50) root@mythtv-lrfe:~# And root@mythtv-lrfe:~# dmesg | egrep 'tv|i2c|tuner|msp|saa|cx25|cx88|lirc' Linux version 2.6.18-chw-13 (root@mythtv) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)) #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 2 21:06:06 PDT 2007 ivtv: Start initialization, version 1.1.0 ivtv0: Initializing card #0 ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge card (cx23416 based) tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) tveeprom 1-0050: Hauppauge model 26152, rev E5B2, serial# 10390662 tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is TCL M2523_5N_E (idx 112, type 50) tveeprom 1-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) tveeprom 1-0050: audio processor is CX25843 (idx 37) tveeprom 1-0050: decoder processor is CX25843 (idx 30) tveeprom 1-0050: has no radio, has IR receiver, has IR transmitter ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 ivtv0: Reopen i2c bus for IR-blaster support tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) cx25840 1-0044: cx25843-24 found @ 0x88 (ivtv i2c driver #0) wm8775 1-001b: chip found @ 0x36 (ivtv i2c driver #0) tuner-simple 1-0061: type set to 50 (TCL 2002N) tuner 1-0061: type set to TCL 2002N ivtv0: Registered device video0 for encoder MPG (4096 kB) ivtv0: Registered device video32 for encoder YUV (2048 kB) ivtv0: Registered device vbi0 for encoder VBI (1024 kB) ivtv0: Registered device video24 for encoder PCM (320 kB) ivtv0: Initialized card #0: Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 ivtv: End initialization bttv: driver version 0.9.17 loaded bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.14 loaded cx88/2: cx2388x MPEG-TS Driver Manager version 0.0.6 loaded cx88/2: cx2388x dvb driver version 0.0.6 loaded cx88/2: registering cx8802 driver, type: dvb access: shared lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61 cx88/0: cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.6 loaded lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x71 (Hauppauge IR (PVR150)) lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 10 ivtv0: Loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw firmware (376836 bytes) ivtv0: Encoder revision: 0x02060039 cx25840 1-0044: loaded v4l-cx25840.fw firmware (16382 bytes) root@mythtv-lrfe:~# And root@mythtv-lrfe:~# v4l2-ctl --all Driver info: Driver name : ivtv Card type : Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 Bus info : 0000:01:01.0 Driver version: 65792 Capabilities : 0x01030051 Video Capture VBI Capture Sliced VBI Capture Tuner Audio Read/Write Format: Type : Video Capture Width/Height : 720/480 Pixel Format : MPEG Field : Interlaced Bytes per Line: 0 Size Image : 131072 Colorspace : Broadcast NTSC/PAL (SMPTE170M/ITU601) Format: Type : Sliced VBI Capture Service Set : Service Line 0: / Service Line 1: / Service Line 2: / Service Line 3: / Service Line 4: / Service Line 5: / Service Line 6: / Service Line 7: / Service Line 8: / Service Line 9: / Service Line 10: / Service Line 11: / Service Line 12: / Service Line 13: / Service Line 14: / Service Line 15: / Service Line 16: / Service Line 17: / Service Line 18: / Service Line 19: / Service Line 20: / Service Line 21: / Service Line 22: / Service Line 23: / I/O Size : 0 Format: Type : VBI Capture Sampling Rate : 27000000 Hz Offset : 248 samples (9.18519e-06 secs after leading edge) Samples per Line: 1440 Sample Format : GREY Start 1st Field : 10 Count 1st Field : 12 Start 2nd Field : 273 Count 2nd Field : 12 Video input : 0 (Tuner 1) Audio input : 0 (Tuner 1) Frequency: 884 (55.250000 MHz) Video standard = 0x0000b000 NTSC-M/M-JP/M-KR Tuner: Capabilities : 62.5 kHz multi-standard stereo lang1 lang2 Frequency range : 44.0 MHz - 958.0 MHz Signal strength : 99% Current audio mode : lang1 Available subchannels: mono lang2 root@mythtv-lrfe:~# I'm stumped. One note is that in R5F27 there isn't a tuner0 for the PVR-150 so I'm configured as /dev/video0 using Tuner 1. |

Numbering of tuners and other inputs now starts at 1 for all drivers that conform to the v4l2 standards. - Have you checked that there are no extraneous card/input definitions in your database as covered in the R5F27 hints? - Have you checked that your input connections are correct? (I notice that you didn't mention them). - Have you commented out the DVB driver loading in the /etc/init.d/KnoppMyth-tv init script? |

- No extraneous card inputs. I've deleted and readded a few times. - By input connections if you mean in mythtv-setup, yes. The only input configured is Tuner 1 and it points to my one Video Source, which seems to have all of the programming information. J- ust removed the dvb driver loading, rebooted. Didn't help. Still same error messages in /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log: 2007-10-07 13:38:39.815 TV Error: LiveTV not successfully started 2007-10-07 13:38:39.815 TV Error: LiveTV not successfully started 2007-10-07 13:38:39.826 TV: Deleting TV Chain in destructor 2007-10-07 13:38:40.600 TV: Attempting to change from None to WatchingLiveTV 2007-10-07 13:38:40.601 Using protocol version 31 2007-10-07 13:38:40.733 GetEntryAt(-1) failed. 2007-10-07 13:38:40.734 EntryToProgram(0@Wed Dec 31 16:00:00 1969) failed to get pginfo 2007-10-07 13:38:40.734 TV Error: LiveTV not successfully started 2007-10-07 13:38:40.734 TV Error: LiveTV not successfully started 2007-10-07 13:38:40.736 TV: Deleting TV Chain in destructor Other thoughts?[/quote] |

At a guess either your backend isn't running or you messed up the hostname or network configuration and the one it's trying to connect to is not the one that the machine is using. |

Solved. Thank you. It was a backend/frontend configuration problem. I now have two tuners, both of which work, including Live TV. I appreciate the help. |
