Post subject: | R5F27 PVR350 Closed Captions Recording Incorrectrly |
have searched the site and probably still missed it, but here is my situation. Also, I moved this from Linux Installation thread. I have two Hauppauge PVR 350s card for dual recording. (Good buy for the second card and I knew it works great.) I am using one of them for video and audio out on my TV. I ran the setup_350.sh after I installed KM then shutdown twice. I wanted to be sure that I had a working vesa xorg.conf file in case the 350 did not install correctly. In previously the R5F1 installation I recorded three days of 18 hours of shows back to back without an issue. (Thanks to the dev team for this). Since we have to move from Zap2it to Schedule Direct I decided to move to R5F27. I tried unsuccessfully to update only the SD update. If it wasn't for the SD issue, I would have stayed on F1. The closed captions are working in F27 for play back. All of the recordings done on the F1 work flawlessly. But the closed captions on the recordings on the F27 are missing letters around 5% of the time. I have changed the settings in KM to use the 350 out on the TV and to not use the 350 out. The closed captions are good on the previous recordings but not on the new ones from F27. Also, viewing live TV the CC is slightly messed up as well. There are not funny characters, just skipped letters in words or words running together. ***** Update ***** Sorry I forgot to post this originally. The installation was an Auto Update plus I had a restore.list file in the /myth/backup directory. Here is the contents of the restore.list ./root ./home ./etc/lirc ./etc/htdigest ./etc/apache2/apache2.conf ./var/www/mythweb/.htaccess ./etc.asound.conf I have copies of the xorg.conf file with the 350 output settings. Plus there entire contents of the /etc directory from the R5F1 installation is also in the /myth/backup directory. Since my understanding was there were changes in the ivtv and xorg.conf files I decided to go what the system installed. ***** Update ***** Any input/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks |

I've gone through the process of an auto installation on a different hard drive. The corruption on closed captioning recording is still there. Is there anything I can look at, files etc to see if there are settings that can be changed? Thanks |

I encountered this problem with closed captions on R5D1 as well as R5F27 and my old series 1 TIVO. I'm not sure what causes it, but I am not sure it's a new problem. I have noticed that the problem is more severe on recordings from my PVR-250 and less severe on my digital, hi-def recordings. I've also noticed that some channels are more problematic than others.
