Post subject: | Video Scan (Autodetect) - Not working |
Hey Guys.. I am using a dual DVB system pulling down HD and SD. I have BOB 2X enabled. But it seems that the Video Scan (autodetect) never guesses correctly. Every time I watch SD I have to hit Menu while watching TV and Select Video Scan > Interlaced (Normal) Can anyone offer up some suggestions as to why this might be happening? I'm using R5F27 Thanks so much. David |

David, unfortunately, this is a known-issue and I have the same problem. I sent a message to the mythtv email list and did some digging. It appears that the problem is that some broadcasters are not setting some flags correctly. At that time the opinion expressed on the email lists was that the broadcasters need to fix the problem and that the myth software developers would not be trying to provide a workaround beyond the existing menu interface. Having said this, there is a way to turn the 8 button presses into a single button press. See the second post on this thread: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight= Marc |

Hi Marc! Glad to know I'm not alone on this. And thanks so much for your workaround. I'm going to look into it. One quick question though... Prior to using MythTV I had an installation of VDR up and running. And, while VDR didn't meet my needs like Myth does.. the problem we're discussing didn't seem to be an issue at all. I'm not asking you why this is the case.. I just find it a bit odd! Thanks again for your help. David |

David, Interestingly, the previous version of mythtv (0.19 => Knoppmyth R5D1) didn't have this problem. My experience was the bob2x deinterlacing worked well for all stations, including those that were transmitted as progressive scan (720p). I don't know why this change was introduced. If it worked properly it would be an improvement, but in practice, it's actually a step backwards. The following thread makes for an interesting read: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/m ... ?page=last Marc |
