tjc -- does this mean that r5f27 is not using a stock kernel? My hats off to Cecil if he merged 2.6.22 v4l stuff into a 2.6.18 kernel. from: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16384 Quote: 5.1) R5F27 uses version 1.1.0 of the ivtv driver, which would not normally be compatible with the 2.6.18 kernel being used, however, Cecil has built using the whole modern suite of modern v4l2 drivers and utilities. Due to interface differences between the 1.x.x and the 0.10.x branches you cannot mix and match, as a result, attempting an "upgrading" to the latest 0.10.x driver will break your system.

The kernel is mostly stock, with a couple patches and some updated drivers. Also the 1.0.x branch is 2.6.22 only but apparently the 1.1.x branch isn't. The man himself has actually commented about the details before. Search for "kernel" with Cecil as the author and you should find it. |
