I have only 3 days program data left. I would appear that the server (xmltv.radiotime.com) is not responding to requests. Is any one else suffering this problem? Algenon. |

With the fix at the top of this page an update ran this morning with no problems. Are you getting the same error message? Have you tried the fix mentioned? Regards, Steve |

Algenon, From your output:- Quote: Retrieving listings
http://xmltv.radiotimes.com/xmltv/160.dat: Code point \u0000 is not a valid character in XML at /usr/share/perl/5.8/XMLTV.pm line 1757 2007-10-31 18:32:42.099 ------------------ End of XMLTV output ------------------ Error message looks the same as from my original post. I can only suggest you try the fix in my first post. I have done this and listing are now being retrieved OK. Afraid you're going to have to get your hands dirty on the command line, else wait for the problem to drop out of the listings. Steve |

Ok guys, your are right. Now how to change this file? Do I just insert the following lines: Code: s/—/--/g;
s/…/.../g; >>ADD s/\000\000/../g; decode_entities $_; after line 351 in /usr/bin/tv_grab_uk_rt? Algenon |

Just the line marked ADD, the line numbers maybe slightly different >>ADD s/\000\000/../g; so the file should read s/—/--/g; s/…/.../g; s/\000\000/../g; decode_entities $_; MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILE change directory into /usr/bin make sure you're root cp tv_grab_uk_rt tv_grab_uk_rt_original then edit tv_grab_uk_rt to add the above line. Treat the above with caution, I'm no expert ![]() Steve |

Thanks Steve, I've added the third line down i.e. s/\000\000/../g; Code: s/—/--/g;
s/…/.../g; s/\000\000/../g; decode_entities $_; tr/\207\211\200\224/\347\311\055\055/; # bad characters The error code has gone now, but I think xmltv have locked me out the site for today, probably tried running mythfilldatabase too many times! I'll try again tomorrow and feedback. Algenon. |

Excellent, glad it worked. Now, according to the post that contained the fix:- Quote: Now, all of that said, there may very
well be a legitimate use of a sequence of two nulls in Unicode (eg, for 3 or 4 byte wide characters), so this kludge can't stay in - it replaces the nulls without regard for their context in the file. OK that goes straight over my head ![]() Steve |
