I added a Thumbnail Generator in R5F27 (Utilities/Setup -> Thumbnail Generator), and I was just curious how many people were using it :) Thanks again to TJC and Sarah Hayes for code contributions.

I don't regularly use me myth box to store ripped DVDs and other videos, but for a while I had an exercise video on it and it was nice to have something other than a yellow folder icon for the video. Thanks.

Don't really have a need for it at the moment, but that's not to say I won't. :)

I clicked it once by accident and it ran (I would have liked an option to run or just get info about it), but I didn't notice any thumbs. This was right after I installed F27, some weeks back. Haven't played with it since.

Had you run Video Manager before running Thumbnail Generator? TG will only work on videos that VM knows about.

As it was some time back, I can't say one way or the other. I know that I have a number of TV shows (DVD rips and TV recordings) that I have in there now w/o thumbs, I might try to run the app again to see what I get.

Tried using it again today. It says it ran, but I can't see where it added thumbs to existing items in there that had no Thumbs.

Can you tell me what this returns?
Code:
mysql -u root mythconverg -B -e "select filename from videometadata where coverfile="No Cover";"

Hi,

I use it as needed, saves me the trouble of going through and making snapshots manually :)

A name change on the image extension would be nice so it could be available for other recordings. (they don't show up in the video manager)

Definitely worthy of being kept around.
Mike

I use it for TV Series that I have converted to XVID since they are not available on IMDB. If it's a movie that I have recorded, I just let it import the thumbnail from IMDB. I am glad that the thumbnail generator does not overwrite the IMDB thumb :)

It's a vast improvement to the yellow folders. Like most people (sweeping statement time) I only use it when I've downloaded some tv eps though i do like a picture.
Ok, it's purely a bit of visual shine, but it's these little bits that make a product so professional looking.

When I run that I get a listing of the exact same 23 videos that I do not have Thumbnails for in the video list.

An Example is:
Code:
/myth/video/The Wolf Man.avi

I have had some issues with getting all the videos to display across the network in the same path. But that didn't have any effect on this issue.

Sorry for the long delay in responding.

OK, I re-ran and got nothing. Here's output (sample) asked for above. As you can see there is a few subdirectories, they are sym linked and 'networked', but the /myth/video/ directory is local (if it matters).

Code:
~$ mysql -u root mythconverg -B -e "select filename from videometadata where coverfile=\"No Cover\";"
filename
/myth/video/VERONICA_MARS_S3_D5 - Title 10.vob
/myth/video/VERONICA_MARS_S3_D5 - Title 7.vob
/myth/video/VERONICA_MARS_S3_D5 - Title 8.vob
/myth/video/VERONICA_MARS_S3_D5 - Title 9.vob
/myth/video/Movies_A-M/Joy Ride.nuv
/myth/video/Movies_A-M/Hitch.mpg
/myth/video/Movies_A-M/Duel.mpg
/myth/video/Movies_A-M/As Good as It Gets.mpg
/myth/video/TV/The Simpsons/The Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror VI.mpg

Too Many Secrets, try:
Code:
screenshooter.sh -v /myth/video/Movies_A-M/Duel.mpg -o -s 270
and let me know what it says/does.
