Post subject:  acpi time zone question

I am having trouble with my acpi. When I use cat to see what the acpi is set for it gives me a time when the computer should turn on in local time. My question is should that time be utc or is it correct to be in local time? When I type date it gives me the local time and states my correct time zone.

It should be in whichever one your bios clock is set to, which I believe Knoppmyth sets to UTC when installed.

If it helps, my setup set the /proc/acpi/alarm in UTC. Like the previous poster said, was probably set in the BIOS that way.

Also on the subject of wakeup, if you are having problems getting your ACPI wakeup to work here two things i had to do to make it go
1) edit /etc/init.d/hwclock.sh according to the following (fussy BIOS)
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/ACPI_Wakeup#Fussy_Bios
2) turned the RTC setting OFF in the BIOS, according to these instructions
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/ACPI_Wakeup#BIOS_Setup

Seems that depending on your BIOS, RTC can be either on or off. Having it on messed with what the setwakeup.sh script was setting into /proc/acpi/alarm. The same was happening with the hwclock.sh, the ACPI didnt like the fact that at shutdown the hwclock.sh script was messing with the clock.

Not sure if you needed that, but thought it might help.

Cheers,

Nathan

Is the best way to check the bios clock to go into the bios set up and see what time it shows or is there a command that will do it.

i went into BIOS and double checked that it was using UTC, seemed to say it was. I spose its just about trying the ACPI scripts and finding out when she wakes up... my experience showed me that there is lots of fiddling with ACPI with the intracicies of your MB.

When you get it working, it is great... mythwelcome is a great bit of gear!
