I do apt-get install ftp and then I can send "stuff" out

No - but you can also use proftpd for a well controlled ftp environment.

Okay.. I actually did a
Code:
# apt-get install lftp
and have been using it. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't another one included that I didn't know about.

Why does everybody get so literal minded and end up doing things the hard way?

- wget will do ftp
- the builtin web browser will do ftp
- Python comes with an ftp library.
- I'm not at the machine and forget if lynx is still included, but that will do ftp too.
- ...

There are already at least a half dozen utilities with ftp client capabilities already included out of the box.
