hey wouldnt it save bandwidth costs if we had a alternative to schedules direct that used p2p. i know some hosting would still be involved with bittorent to run a tracker but i just wanted to bring up the idea to maybe inspire someone. 20$ is a great price for 1 year of eztv but id really like to see work on free alternatives. let me know if i can help anyone

First, where are you going to get the data? If there was a
free, redistributable source of data do you really think we'd
all be paying for it?

Second, am I going to have to download schedule data for every
TV station and cable distributor in the US and then filter out
the 99.999% of the downloaded stuff that I don't need? That
sure wouldn't save bandwidth. As it works now, I only download
a fraction of the data available for my area, so even if you
seeded a separate file for each zip code, it would more than
double the amount of data I'd have to download.

Or, are you going to seed a different file (every day!) for
every TV station and cable channel in the US? That would save
bandwidth, but it would be a pretty large undertaking.
