I have been populating some of the features of Knoppmyth over the past few days. Anyway in all of this I got a new Sony 40" LCD panel to replace my aging 41" Sony SD TV.
That transition has been very easy, have it running over DVI to HDMI on my main front end box. The whole transition caused me to need to change around the entire entertainment center, Cabling, Power etc. This left the wifes Christmas music unavailable via the stereo.
In Steps Knoppmyth and the import features and Playback lists. I started ripping her CD's to my MBE and it is importing them directly into the system and they are playing through the TV with visualizations. She loves it.
Another cool feature in the many layers of Cool features built into Knoppmyth.
Many Thanks to Cecil and the team.
Merry Christmas to all.

I just showed my wife how to use MythStream. She found a couple Shoutcast stations that were 24/7 Christmas music and I was an instant hero.
The best part was that I didn't have to listen to the same four Christmas CD's for a month straight!!!

Wow. About two days worth of nonstop Xmas music would either have me ready to issue an ultimatum or wearing noise canceling headphones full time. A months worth probably qualifies as some kind of torture under the Geneva convention.

I agree on the nonstop issue.
The fortunate thing is she found the various ways it can shuffle her playlists. That helped bunches. Some of the music like classics Montavoni I really enjoy.
Others I can do without.
Only time will tell where she takes this next.
Now I need to find an easy way to transition some of my Classic Vinyl into the box.
May take a bit of digging on my part. No rush.

yea I like that one as well, but it is cough nearly $100.
Anyway, I really like this line
Quote: It's a sad life being an outdated media format like the vinyl record.
I hear in "the City" the new trend is to raid the shops for old vinyl because it is so pure. Hehe, Try to find a turntable these days.
When I bought mine with my High end Yamaha components the guy thought I was crazy. All that high end gear and a turntable to drag a pointy diamond object across this dirty nasty "Analog" Vinyl medium.
Now everybody wants my high tech Platter spinner.

Funny, isn't it how history repeats !
I was given a top of the range (antique) TEAC turntable becasue the repair shop lost mine (go figure).
It has automatic queueing, manual bias, and pressure adjustment together with hydraulic arm lift and placement. It is the Rolls Royce of turntables.
Anyway, for the cost of a new stylus, I now have a turntable which would now be worth $00's for its performance !!!
I had to laugh when I looked at the latest digital editing software that has "vinyl" features - it adds pops and bangs back into digital tracks. In my old age I feel vindicated
P.S. Here is a piece of trivia... What is the highest fidelity AM radio reception? Answer: A crystal radio.

That's great! I just finished ripping my whole vinyl collection to CD (and my Mythbox). Yeah- CDs aren't as cool but they're just so PORTABLE!
I'm not an audiophyle, but I am a little picky when it comes to my tunes. I've got a pretty good Onkyo turntable, but the sound isn't as good to me as a well mastered CD. Now- the stuff I originally had on vinyl (i.e. some 70's era Cat Stevens) sounds better on vinyl, and I thing that's because there's tape noise on the CD- I can't pick it up on the 33. Today's max volume dynamically compressed CDs pretty much suck anywhere but the car, but you can't get a vinyl copy of that stuff- even if you could, it would still probably sound bad for the same reasons.
I think I read somewhere that there was a golden age of CD audio in about the mid 90's. Things were digital from the studio and stayed that way (no tape hiss), and the engineers were allowed to make an album with some range.
