Post subject: | Need change resolution command |
I recently switched my primary connection from my Myth box to my HDTV from S-Video to DVI/HDMI. Before the switch my image did not quite fill my screen (about 80%). Now the image is bigger than the screen and I can't get to the top, bottom or sides with my cursor. At one time I used a debian command that queried for the available resolutions and showed an X next to the current setting(which was the max). It allowed the user to select another resolution. Anybody know what I'm talking about?? |

This was the command I was looking for but I told me my max resolution was 800x600. My TV is a 720p, so there is something else going on. I tried lower resolution to no avail. |

You should be able to get 1280x720 over DVI. 800x600 is the max for SVideo. The video being too large is most likely Overscan, it's in the TV, not the mythbox. The best fix is to adjust your TV, which is probably beyond the scope of this forum. I worked around this my setting my gui to have X-, and Y- offsets of 58, and 34, respectively, and Width, and height of 1158, and 653. I unchecked the box about use GUI suze for playback, and just let videos overscan. (I'm hoping someone can reply with a better answer.) This makes the gui look right, and doesn't scale videos more than necessary. The numbers you use will be different depending on the amount of overscan on your set. I found mine by connecting from another PC with VNC, and moving a terminal window about until I found the boundries of what was on the TV screen. |
