Post subject: | Optimizedb - How Long? |
Hello, How long should it take to run the Optimizedb script? I started it about 45 minutes ago and it seems to have hung. I did stop mythbackend prior to running the script. From what I can tell it is stuck on the recordseek table. I know that this is probably the biggest table on my system, but this amount of time seems excessive. I don't want to just break out of the process, but my wife would also like to watch something soon. |

It should only take a minute or two at the most. Perhaps you have to repair the recordsseek table? |

That's what I thought. It has now been over an hour, so I guess i will break out of the process and see what happens. |

It shouldn't take terribly long to run but it's dependent on the speed of your system and the size of your DB. Also depending on which one you use, optimize_db.sh should display progress information to let you know where it is and how it's doing. |

I figured out that my / partition was dreadfully low on disk space. Once I deleted the offending file everything works as expected. |

Make sure you go through the DB recovery/repair pages on the wiki. When the partition fills up it's very common for your DB to suffer ill effects. |
