There was a place to edit these in MythWeb, under the settings section select mythweb on the side, then the video playback area where you enabled flash.

I adjusted the size, video, and audio stuff there and got a smooth playback.

Folks,

I've got asx working in WMP 11, but even when it's working it's very slow. VLC might work better, but I've got a password setup for mythweb and VLC couldn't seem to get past the authentication.

For those who want to use this at home, I found a much better solution in the post below. It works by setting VLC as the default player for the myth files, and resets the "direct download" links in mythweb to use a samba share. So far this has the highest WAF on our windows XP box,

I don't think we shall be able to get WMP playing this though as WMP has problems displaying TS format mpeg files.

WMP works for me, but I only have analog recordings.
Here's what I found in wmp:
Audio codec: AC3Filter
Video codec: SageTV MPEG Video Decoder

Might try installing the demo of SageTV to see if it works for you.

Thanks to you and the others for working on this.

Thanks for that mythedoff, will take a look at this over the weekend some time - no problem on getting this working, yababom discovered the trick with the help of everyone on this post that reported their problems and I think everyone is greatful to be able to now stream recordings on flash perfectly! The task now is to get asx working well!

wmcvetty plase could you tell me what settings you currently have to give an idea of a starting point (I guess it will really depend on everyone's setup but please say if you had to adjust any values by quite a bit). The current (default) settings are:
Width: 320x240 (which I guess you cannot change)
Video bitrate = 256 kbps
Audio bitrate = 64 kbps

Thanks,
Mythman

When I was playing around with it I adjusted it for a larger screen during playback. I record SD, so the 4:3 aspect ration hard coding was not an issue for me. I did adjust it up to 640 and saved it, and it seems to change the other number to 480 for me automatically.

As for the bit rates, I changed mine to 512, and 128. That seemed to do ok, but it was a bit grainy. I am, however, on a slow work network which may be to blame.

Currently I am playing with low settings to see if the work network will complain about streaming content or not. I have not perfected it yet, and will most likely not be one for sharing as it is not the goal of most.

Good Luck!

I can use the ASX stream and the direct download when I'm within my network, but both buttons do nothing when I try from work.

Is there a config file I can allow external users access to the asx stream and direct download?

What do I need to do to make this work outside my lan? asx, directdl, and flash all work inside the lan. Outside none of the links work and the flash player shows a black screen.

I followed the instructions here recently but the version I got was different.

The sound is good now but the video stops playing after about a minute or two. I'm suspecting low end hardware, but maybe there are some other switches I missed.

I am wondering if the sources have changed or something.
I was referred to this thread as the most recent to fix transcode.
I have an R5.5 system that will trancode DVd's very slow and also leaves them with just noise for Audio.

First I ran a backup of the system,
Then I also backed up the list of files listed as Tarlist in post
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18547

I started following the steps here and I got different results.

I changed my sources as listed in the post here.

When I ran
Code:
# apt-get install ffmpeg
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ffmpeg: Depends: libavcodec52 (>= 3:20081230) but it is not going to be instal                                                            led
Depends: libavdevice52 (>= 3:20081230) but it is not going to be insta                                                            lled
Depends: libavfilter0 (>= 3:20081230) but it is not going to be instal                                                            led

E: Broken packages

I then ran
Code:
#apt-get remove transcode mplayer
It completed without anything remarkable.

I then ran
Code:
apt-get install ffmpeg
with the same results mentioned above.

Following that I ran the
Code:
apt-get install transcode mplayer

with the following results

Code:
# apt-get install transcode mplayer

Building dependency tree... Done

E: Broken packages

I am kind of at a loss for what to do next here.

Any thoughts?

I had the same problem.

Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and uncomment any repos that are commented out (ones starting with #, delete the #'s).

Once I did that, mplayer reinstalled fine with apt-get update, then apt-get install mplayer

In addition to uncommenting the debian-multimedia lines, I found that in R5.5, if you change the sources to SID rather than UNSTABLE or even STABLE, the dependency problems were fixed.

/etc/apt/sources.list
Code:
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main
deb-src http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main
