Post subject:  OSX front end can't connect to r5.5 upgrade

I upgraded the mythbox to r5.5 using the guide and everything is working great on that.

The problem is when I upgraded my Mac OSX front end. It asks me to set a security PIN on the backend using mythtv-setup. I did that. 0000 for no security. Then the front end tried to connect to the database but could not.

I am using precompiled binaries from thesniderpad, which have always worked great in the past...

There was no front end for the exact svn of the r5.5. Choices are 17637 and 17717 from .21-fixes or a straight .21 build. Which would be best?

Any ideas?

did you double check your settings for mysql on the backend?

each time I upgrade it seems I still have to comment out the:

bind-address = 127.0.0.1

line in /etc/mysql/my.cnf and restart mysql so that the clients will connect to the db

Bueno.

That did it!

I forgot about that little tweak after an upgrade.

Thanks!
