I've been using Knoppmyth for several versions now, and usually I use VNC from my laptop to act as the "remote control" over the MythTV box. I can use the laptop keyboard to send "left-arrow" "right-arrow" "enter" "Pause" etc. to control the playback.

In previous versions of Knoppmyth the VNC window always displayed a "gray screen" whenever the MythTV box was playing an actual television recording. There was little-to-no delay to the keyboard commands.

In R5.5, I notice that the video is actually being displayed in the VNC window on my laptop, albeit at lower quality and slow speed, i.e. sequential "snapshots" instead of smooth video. The MythTV box displays normal video on the TV screen. This is a problem because now my keyboard presses take 1-2 seconds before taking effect. It seems like the "video snapshots" is consuming all the network bandwidth and the keyboard commands are being lost in all the shuffle.

How can I get the "gray-screen" back? The video playing in my VNC window is useless quality and in fact detrimental to my "remote control."
